A few days ago, we, the kickass team at Swag Hut, embarked on an epic adventure to have a blast. We believe in working hard and playing harder, and this year, our social planning committee organised a rad surf πŸ„ lesson at the breathtaking Lahinch Beach in beautiful West Clare. Lucky for us, the legendary Irish Summer blessed us with exceptional weather for the past few weeks, and just before the event, a sweet ground swell appeared, giving our stoked crew plenty of gnarly waves to ride.

We had a diverse crew consisting of those who had surfed a couple of times, some who had only watched "Point Break" (the original version) and the daring newbies with their own ideas of surfing.

    ‍

    Some of us had notions!

    ‍

As we arrived in Lahinch, the first challenge for some (no names!) was figuring out how to put on a wetsuit the right way (and not inside out!).

    ‍

Once that hurdle was conquered, we took a quick glance at the horizon, where gentle peaks 🌊 were rolling in, and grabbed our boards before heading down to the beach.

After receiving some awesome instructions from the cool folks at McCarthy's Surf School (huge thanks to them), we were all set to take on the waves.

The next two hours were an absolute blast, and as we emerged from the water at the end of the session (after doing a quick headcount), it was time to change and gather on the promenade for a well-deserved celebratory drink. We briefly chatted about the waves we caught and the soreness in our chests, arms, necks, and backs, but we made a pact to do it all over again in the near future.

    ‍

    ‍

Of course, we knew that refuelling our energy was crucial after such an exhilarating activity. So, we headed back to the hotel, where we freshened up and got ready for an incredible dinner and some drinks.

    ‍

Spending time at Lahinch reminded us of the immense value of the ocean and the environment, not just as our playground but also as a vital habitat and ecosystem.

    ‍

We never take these things for granted, which is why we're passionate about supporting sustainable initiatives. As a company, we understand the importance of building a vibrant company culture. By exploring and having fun, we become more aware of our surroundings, and we also get to rock our own awesome swag including some summer staples below:
